BPKH Waits For Ministry Of Religion And DPR Regarding Proposed Increase In Initial Deposits For Hajj Funds

JAKARTA - The Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) is waiting for further discussions from the Ministry of Religion and Commission VIII of the DPR RI regarding the proposed increase in the initial deposit of Hajj funds.

In a Hearing Meeting (RDP) between BPKH and Commission VIII of the DPR RI, Thursday, February 6, the Head of the BPKH Implementing Agency Fadlul Imansyah proposed that the initial deposit of Hajj be increased from Rp. 25 million to Rp. 35 million.

"Yes, actually (the decisive one) will be two parties with an agreement between the Ministry of Religion and Commission VIII of the DPR RI," said Fadlul in Bandung, quoted by Antara, Saturday, February 8.

Fadlul explained that the increase in initial deposits and paid-off payments could increase managed funds, starting from the value of benefits and virtual accounts that will be received by each prospective Hajj participant.

This initial deposit of IDR 25 million has been in effect since 2010, at that time Suryadharma Ali served as Minister of Religion. Since then until 2025, there has been no increase in the initial deposit of Hajj.

"So actually, Rp35 million shouldn't be a problem. Because the problem is whether the congregation pays now is a bit bigger," said Fadlul.

On the other hand, in the 2026/2027 Hajj season, Hajj payments must be carried out twice considering that the Hajj is carried out in tight preparation.

"So we can pay in January the expenditure and we have to pay in December for 2027. This is due to the two hajj seasons which are also tight," said Fadlul.

Fadlul hopes that the government and the DPR can decide on the proposed increase in the initial deposit of the congregation. As the management of the congregation's money, BPKH ensures its readiness to generate better benefits.

"It's not the Hajj administration twice, but the payment twice. Because it's tight, so we can pay in January for the expenses and we have to pay in December for 2027," he said.
