Coordinating Minister AHY Hopes That The Infrastructure In Indonesia Can Support Energy Self-Sufficiency

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (Menko AHY) hopes that the existing infrastructure can support energy self-sufficiency in accordance with President Prabowo's Astacita program, especially in increasing energy security in order to achieve energy self-sufficiency and support downstreaming.

AHY also hopes that the current infrastructure optimization can provide economic benefits from the development of renewable energy.

"So, the spirit of Mr. President Prabowo Subianto so that Indonesia is self-sufficient in energy other than self-sufficiency in food and self-sufficiency in clean water, this can be realized by the presence of productive and optimal dams. This is where the direct impact can be felt on economic growth and also for the welfare of the community and the environment," he said in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, February 8.

AHY emphasized the importance of optimizing the potential of Indonesian land waters, such as reservoirs and dams, for the development of floating Solar Power Plants (PLTS) and Hydroelectric Power Plants (PLTA).

"In the future, we know that in Indonesia there are many dams. In Java there are tens, hundred maybe yes. Then in Sumatra, in Kalimantan, in Sulawesi, and in other parts of Indonesia we hope to continue to develop with good studies because the investment is also not small, this needs good feasibility study," he said.

AHY added that the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure will continue to present policies that support the development of clean and renewable energy.

"Thus, we hope that PLN can continue to look for the best innovations, cooperation with various partners, investment can also be presented from within and outside the country, and we from the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure will continue to present policies that favor the development of clean and renewable energy," he said.

For information, the Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) revealed that the government is committed to strengthening infrastructure development as a driver of national economic growth through innovative financing schemes and cooperation with international institutions.

The main focus includes strategic projects, equitable development, and sustainability of physical and digital infrastructure in order to reduce economic inequality and improve people's welfare, because infrastructure is the backbone of national economic growth.
