Prabowo Emphasizes The Importance Of Defense Forces To Maintain The Security Of The Republic Of Indonesia

BOGOR - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of defense forces to maintain the security and integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

This message was given to the Commanders of the TNI Unit (Dansat) during a briefing activity held at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Friday, February 7.

"We can't protect with good faith, we can't protect only with words, we can't protect only by writing, we can't protect with theory. Protecting is with force," Prabowo said as quoted by ANTARA.

According to him, the urgency to maintain state security has been stated in the Indonesian constitution, namely the 1945 Constitution (UUD).

Through this basis, the founders of the nation use the message of protecting the entire Indonesian nation as the first point mentioned in the formation of a country while fighting for independence.

"This means that the founding fathers of their nation - those who fought for independence through resistance to colonialism, physical resistance to imperialism. From the start they determined and said that the function of the state was the first function of protection, the function of protecting, meaning defense," said Prabowo.

The message to maintain national defense is important to see the dynamics of other countries that are now losing their power to defend their independence because they do not have sufficient defense.

Therefore, the President hopes that maintaining and improving national defense can be used as a lesson for TNI officers who are clearly at the forefront of protecting the Indonesian nation.

"We must be grateful that our leaders have maintained our country, maintained the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia without being too involved, without inviting an invasion from other countries," Prabowo closed his statement.

The TNI Dansat briefing at the Bogor Presidential Palace was carried out after the President chaired the inaugural session of the National Defense Council.

This briefing activity was attended by 1,004 middle and high officers from various dimensions and levels, ranging from major rank to four-star general.
