Visit The Rokan Block, Minister Bahlil: Increase Production, Keep The State's Marwah

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia accompanied by the Head of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) Djoko Siswanto conducted a review of the working area of PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) in Duri, Bengkalis, Riau, Wednesday, February 5. Bahlil emphasized the importance of increasing production in order to maintain national energy resilience and sovereignty according to the Asta Cita President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto.

During the visit, Minister Bahlil saw firsthand the operating area in the Duri field. Bahlil appreciated the application of the Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) method with the steamflood method implemented by PHR in an effort to increase production. Not only that, the development of innovations, both drilling technology and production optimization, is expected to be able to make a significant contribution to the fulfillment of domestic energy needs.

"Here is one of the centers of oil sources owned by PHR. Our lifting target must increase, of course, in order to maintain the dignity and sovereignty of the state in the energy context and this is the responsibility of all of us as children born to Motherland Indonesia," he said.

As the frontline in maintaining energy sovereignty, Bahlil emphasized that the government will continue to provide support and motivation to PHR to continue to be enthusiastic in efforts to increase production.

"I believe Pertamina is able to do this because our lifting is a product of Pertamina and of that 60% 25-30% comes from PHR. The spirit continues, motherlands are waiting for our service to maintain the dignity of the country in order to provide services to the people and nation," he concluded.

Head of SKK Migas Djoko Siswanto also appreciated PHR's efforts to optimize its potential in the Rokan WK through EOR technology. The first vapor injection in the NDDA 14 field was a significant step forward at the beginning of the year in increasing national production.

"Of course this is good news for the upstream Indonesian oil and gas industry. This shows the commitment of the government and companies in increasing oil production and extending the production age of oil fields in Indonesia. It is hoped that this method will continue to run smoothly while still prioritizing reliable and secure performance," he said.

SKK Migas juga lanjut Djoko telah menyetujui usulan Plan of Development (POD) Steamfood EOR atau Injectsi Uap di Lapangan Rantaubais Phase-1. PHR siap bergerak melakukan pengembangan Lapangan Rantaubais untuk mendukung ketahanan energi nasional.

PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) is moving quickly in an effort to increase oil production in the Rokan Zone. PHR successfully carried out the first Put On Injection (POI) on the Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) project using the steamflood method at the North Duri Development (NDD) Area 14, in mid-January 2025.

PHR recorded its best performance where the first POI injector / partner was carried out faster than the original plan in May 2025. With this success, PHR can accelerate the injection process in the next wells and all 15 injectors / patients will be completed by the end of June 2025.

This success is also an important milestone in the development of oil fields in the Rokan Zone. Through Steamfood, the NDD A14 field is expected to make a significant contribution to the increase in oil reserves and production in the Rokan Block.

PHR President Director Ruby Mulyawan said, "The achievement of the NDD Area 14 project is the result of the hard work of all PHR workers who continue to innovate in increasing production. Hopefully this steamfood project will have a positive impact on our efforts to continue to maintain national energy resilience," Ruby said.

The steamfood project in the NDD A14 field is part of PHR's strategy to optimize the potential for oil reservoirs in the Rokan Block through the Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) technology. By injecting steam into the reservoir, the viscosity of oil will decrease so that it is easier to flow and can be produced.

The NDD A14 field is the development of a new steamfood area after the transfer of management of the Rokan WK by Pertamina. The NDD A14 stage-1 field development project includes 68 drilling wells, of which 47 production wells (producers), 15 injector steam wells and 6 observation wells with an estimated total project reserve of 6.74 MMBO (million barrels of oil).
