Sri Mulyani Reveals 351 Tikus Ports In The Smuggling Goods

Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani revealed that 351 rat ports have been identified as places for smuggling illegal goods.

"Earlier, the Coordinating Minister conveyed 351 rat ports that have been identified as landing spots from various possible smugglings," he said in a virtual press conference, Wednesday, February 5.

Moreover, he continued, the frequency of ships anchored at all ports in Indonesia reached 894,480. Therefore, he said, this needs to be a common concern.

"This is so that it is known that 894,480 ship frequencies are anchored in Indonesia in all ports in Indonesia. This is one of the things we need to monitor," he said.

Throughout 2024, continued Sri Mulyani, the government has taken 37,264 actions against the smuggling of imported goods and exports. The value reached Rp9.6 trillion with the potential loss saved by the government of Rp4.8 trillion.

Of these various actions, he continued, there are various modes carried out by smugglers, both for imports and exports. For example, the example of the import mode used is deliberately blaming the import requirements to avoid customs.

"As is known that those who carry out customs obligations, there are 8,661 HS rates that can have different posts. So the perpetrators can then try to make a declaration but on HS they are deliberately blamed to avoid customs obligations or even for smuggling," he said.

In addition, he said, there are several old modes but the perpetrators continue to do it. For example, moving goods between ships by pretending to send between islands, even though they can actually be exported or imported.

"Or also another mode of goods is that he pretended to be exported but then returned to the country. Then also the mode from the side of the tool for smuggling is using a high speed ship or in this case at speeds above 70 knots," he said.
