Padi Production In North Jakarta Decreased Due To Floods And Pests

JAKARTA - The agricultural area in North Jakarta will experience a decline in crop yields in January-February 2025. This is due to high rainfall which causes rice fields to be flooded and also to plant pests.

"We will try to find solutions to the obstacles encountered in the field," said Deputy Mayor of North Jakarta Juaini Yusuf in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, January 25.

He said the North Jakarta Water Resources Sub-dept. (SDA) would find a solution so that the water abundance could be overcome.

"For pests, the North Jakarta Food, Maritime and Agriculture Security Sub-Department (KPKP) has prepared seeds and pesticides to fight pests," he said.

Head of the North Jakarta Food, Maritime and Agricultural Security Sub-dept. (KPKP), Unang Rustanto, said that Rorotan Gapoktan or Rorotan farmers did not fail to harvest, but experienced a decrease in productivity.

"Actually, there is no problem, only the impact of the weather. If you look at the national standards, each hectare of rice fields produces 5.5 tons per hectare," he said.

Unang said that in North Jakarta, although it was ups and downs, it was still above national standards because during the seasons it supported or either above the national average.

"Sometimes 7 tons per hectare, sometimes 6 tons. Today in the fields of one of the Gapoktan yesterday the results reached 6.1 tons per hectare," he said.

In addition, his party will conduct simultaneous planting socialization to maximize the yield of the Rorotan Gapoktan.

Then if there is an attack on disease pests, his party asks farmers to coordinate with the Head of the KPKP Implementing Unit (Kasatlak) so that they can connect with friends of the Plant Protection Brigade from the Seed Pusbang.

"For disease control, then I suggest that if there is a disease pest (rat), we work together to do a group of rats," he said.

The Deputy Mayor of North Jakarta (Jakut) also provided assistance with five kilograms of seeds, urea five kilograms and pesticides for the rapid handling of pests.
