Former Tangerang Regent Ahmed Zaki: Sea Fence in Tangerang Since 2014, Before PIK 2 Project
JAKARTA - Former Tangerang Regent, Ahmed Zaki Iskandar, stated that there was a bamboo fence in the sea of Tangerang Regency, Banten, since 2014, or before the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2 project.
Zaki made this statement in response to a photo of himself uploaded by the legal consultant for the PIK 2 project, Muannas Alaidid, through the X account @muannas_alaid on Wednesday, January 22.
In the photo in the upload, it appears that Zaki is in the north coast of Tangerang with the background of a bamboo fence which is said to have existed a decade ago.
"Photos in 2014. Just info that that that year there were fences. But no one noticed. I don't know who installed it, what was the purpose and for what. The Tangerang Regency Government's authority is only on the coast, not until the sea," Zaki told reporters, Friday, January 24.
Zaki emphasized that he did not know for sure the party who installed the bamboo fence and its purpose. However, it was stated that the fence had existed for a long time, long before the PIK 2 project began.
"And in 2014 there has been no PIK 2 program in Tangerang," he said.
Meanwhile, Muannas, in his upload, also mentioned that many bamboo fences have been found in the northern coast (Pantura) of Tangerang since 2014.
"The former Regent of Tangerang Regency for two periods, Ahmed Zaki Iskandar, had a collection of photos during a visit to the Tangerang Regency committee in 2014. At that time, he rented three boats to bring reporters to see the damaged condition of the northern coast. It turns out that since 2014 there have been many sea fences," wrote Muannas in his upload on the X account.

He also emphasized that the bamboo fence was not part of the PIK 2 project, but rather an initiative of coastal communities that had been going on for years.
"Those who installed it have been recognized. There are coastal communities who make it independently because their land and ponds were affected by abrasion. They put up bamboo fences to save their property, and it has been made for years, long before there was PIK," explained Muannas.
