Ministry Of Religion-BPH Discusses Hajj Management With KPK Today

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) held an audience with the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag), the Hajj Organizing Agency (BPH), and the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) today, Thursday, January 23. Discussions on the implementation of the pilgrimage will be held.

"Today the KPK received an audience with the Ministry of Religion, BPKH, and BPH to discuss the management of Hajj, especially in the framework of preventing corruption," said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a written statement to reporters.

Budi has not detailed the audience. The activity, which was held behind closed doors, is still ongoing.

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, previously said that President Prabowo Subianto asked the KPK to accompany the Ministry of Religion and the Hajj Organizing Agency (BPH) in organizing Hajj.

The head of the 2025 Hajj Supervisory Team (Timwas) said the move followed the findings and records related to the implementation of the 2024 Hajj by the 2024 Hajj Committee (Pansus) of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

"The president has asked the KPK specifically to provide assistance to the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) and BPH so that this year's Hajj will run well," Dasco said in a meeting with the Working Committee (Panja) on the Cost of Organizing Hajj Commission VIII DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, ANTARA, Tuesday, January 7.

One of the notes that is of concern is the non-compliance with the allocation of additional Hajj quotas from the Government of Saudi Arabia set by the government. In fact, the decision was taken after consulting with Commission VIII of the DPR RI.

"We have to be aware of the findings of the previous special committee that then there are collected slots so that those who are entitled to leave can leave without their rights being reduced," he said.
