SAR Team Finds Missing Santri Dragged By River Currents In Bangkalan

The joint team from elements of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), TNI and police finally found missing students who were dragged by the river currents in Blega, Bangkalan, East Java.

"The victim's body was found about 950 meters from the point where the victim was swept away," said Blega Police Chief AKP Muhammad Syamsuri as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 22.

He explained that the students of the Al-Hamidiyah Islamic Boarding School, Blega named Sohibul Qirom (16) from East Durin Village, Konang District, Bangkalan were swept away by the flood river, Tuesday (21/1) at around 08.30 WIB.

According to Syamsuri, the victim was found when the water level in the river reached 1 meter at around 13.00 WIB.

When found, the victim's body condition, the victim's buttocks, rose to the surface of the water, while the victim's hands fell to the ground.

"When found, the victim was still wearing a sarong and watch, and no impact marks were found," said the police chief.

The victim was taken to the Blega Health Center for an autopsy, but the victim's family refused.

The victim was then taken back to the funeral home in East Durin Village, Konang District, Bangkalan to be buried.
