Evacuation Of Searches For Glodok Plaza Fire Victims Constrained By Bad Weather

JAKARTA - Evacuation of the search for victims of the Glodok Plaza fire was hampered by bad weather in the Tamansari area, West Jakarta on Monday, January 20.

"If it is cloudy, first stop it because of the fear of ruins, it collapses because it is fragile. Because the position is open, the roof is burned down," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Data and Information Center (Pusdatin) Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Mohamad Yohan.

Yohan explained that the condition of the 9th floor of the Glodok Plaza building is currently collapsing due to the fire.

"It caught fire on the 9th floor, the 9th floor fell, because the materials were wood and light steel. Finally (the floor) collapsed," he said.

The search for victims on Monday was deployed by 2 teams to comb the 7th and 8th floors of Glodok Plaza.

"It has rained, stop it first. The most rainy obstacle. So the search process must be stopped," he said.

In addition to bad weather, the evacuation process constraints also came from the condition of the location which was messy due to the debris material.

"Our obstacle is in search because the location is messy, this is being tidied up by the building manager to make it easier for us to look for casualties," he said.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Disaster Data and Information Center (Pusdatin), Mohamad Yohan, said the joint team was still conducting searches by conducting sweeps of all floors 7 and 8 Mall Glodok Plaza, Tamansari District, West Jakarta. While the 9th floor has collapsed.
