Central MUI Denies Different Views Attitude Of PIK 2 With MUI Banten

JAKARTA - The Central Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has dismissed differences in views on the National Strategic Project (PSN) at Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2 with MUI Banten.

"Oh no, so there is no difference of opinion. I have clarified to the Banten MUI because it turns out that the Banten MUI is actually the same as our views," said the Head of the MUI Team regarding PIK 2 Masduki Baidlowi when contacted from Jakarta, Tuesday, January 14, quoted by Antara.

Previously, the Central MUI had held a meeting with the DKI Jakarta MUI and Banten MUI to discuss the PSN polemic at PIK 2. During the meeting, it strengthened the results of the MUI Mukernas that asked for the project to be stopped.

However, not long ago, MUI Banten held a press conference to support the continuation of PSN at PIK 2 because it was considered to have great benefits, including creating jobs.

The MUI Banten statement was conveyed by the Chairman of the Banten MUI for Information and Communication and Islamic Culture Alwiyan Qosid Syamun.

With this difference of opinion, Masduki clarified that MUI has one voice regarding PSN at PIK 2, asking for it to be stopped. The recommendations at the National Working Meeting were also signed by all MUIs throughout Indonesia, including the Banten MUI.

"We gather (MUI) throughout Indonesia, gather in Jakarta, conduct Mukernas and provide recommendations like that. So it cannot be denied that only by the regional MUI, it can't be like that," he said.

He clarified to the Banten MUI regarding the differences in views that previously surfaced.

Masduki emphasized that the Banten MUI has the same view as the Central MUI rejecting the sustainability of PSN in PIK 2. If there are parties who express support for the project, then it is not on behalf of the MUI institution.

"If there are things, for example in the future, if there are different things in the future, I think that is definitely not on behalf of the institution. It must be a person acting on behalf of MUI. Because if it is in the name of MUI, it must be the same as that," he said.
