The Temperature Of Water When Washing Your Face, Does It Really Affect The Size Of Pori-Pori?

JAKARTA - So far, many think the water temperature used to wash the face can affect the pores. Pores are considered to be more open with hot and closed water if with cold water.

Cleaning your face with warm water is not something wrong. However, according to dermatologist, Dr. Hannah Kopelman, said the function of washing your face with hot water is not like the myth circulating.

Water with high temperatures cannot change the size of the pores. This is because the pores do not have muscles that can open and close.

"The reality is that pores do not have muscles so they cannot physically open or close due to responses from temperature. Heat water may be able to shed oil and dust temporarily, making the pores look cleaner but unable to change their temperature," said Dr. Hannah Kopelman, quoted from Huffington Post, on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

Hannah also said that the use of hot water to wash your face must be careful. It is not recommended to wash with hot water on someone with rosacea or eczema, because it can exacerbate drought in the face.

Washing your face with cold water also does not affect the pores of the face. Cold water is only useful for calming the skin to make the skin look fresher.

"Cold water can help calm inflamed and certified skin. This choice is better for conditions like rosacea or after certain dermatological procedures. Cold water can also reduce swelling in the morning by narrowing blood vessels, so that the skin looks fresh," he explained.

Hannah Kopelman then suggested washing her face with warm water or steam nails. Warm water is useful for facial skin, one of which makes skin care products better absorbed.

"Hot water is ideal for cleaning the face because this water is effective in removing dirt, oil, and makeup while maintaining skin natural oil, so that skin care products can be better absorbed," he concluded.
