Aave Releases Testnet V3 On The Aptos Network

JAKARTA - Aave, a well-known liquidity protocol, launched the Aave V3 testnet on the Aptos network. This is the first launch of the Aave protocol on the non-Ethereum Virtual Machine (non-EVM) blockchain. Aave aims to test security, stability, and performance of the Aave V3 protocol before launch on the main network (mainnet).

This trial process was carried out thanks to close cooperation between Aave Labs and the Aptos Foundation, which from the start prompted the launch of Aave V3 on the Aptos blockchain. Blockchain Aptos offers various advantages such as high throughput, low transaction fees, and enhanced security through the Move programming language.

To support compatibility with the Aptos Virtual Machine (VM), Aave must rewrite their protocol base code, rebuild the interface, and adapt the system to this new ecosystem.

Focus on Security

Security is a top priority in developing Aave V3 in Aptos. In this process, Aave collaborated with Chainlink to provide reliable price feeds and engage security researchers from the early stages. This collaboration ensures the security-based approach remains at the heart of protocol development.

In addition, this testnet phase also includes a thorough audit conducted by several leading security teams such as Certora, SpearBit, and OtterSec. Once the audit is complete, Aave plans to hold a security contest to identify and address other potential security loopholes.

Currently, the proposal for the launch of Aave V3 in Aptos is in the stage of TEMP CHECK,' where the Aave community evaluates the details of the testnet results. Once this phase is complete, the proposal will move to the Advanced Request for Comments (ARFC) stage and then to the final governance stage (AIP) for approval.

Aave CEO Stani Kulechov welcomed this move as an important milestone in Aave's efforts to expand its ecosystem beyond the EVM. "This is a major step towards expanding the protocol into a wider ecosystem," he said.
