During The Third Quarter Of 2024, BI Finds 93 Fake Money Sheets In Central Sulawesi
JAKARTA - The Central Sulawesi Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office recorded 93 rupiah notes whose authenticity was doubtful or counterfeit money during the third quarter (TW III) 2024.
"This discovery reflects an increase in public awareness of the importance of recognizing the characteristics of the authenticity of rupiah currency," said Head of BI Central Sulawesi Rony Hartawan quoting Antara.
According to him, this trend increased when compared to TW II-2024 as many as 81 pieces and TW I-2024 as many as 40 sheets. The increase was inseparable from the education and socialization of BI Central Sulawesi through the love, pride and rupiah understanding program (CBP Rupiah).
Rony said that the program is an effort to increase public literacy related to the authenticity of money. In addition, it aims to instill love and pride in the rupiah as a symbol of the nation's sovereignty.
In the third quarter of 2024, educational and socialization activities have been carried out in various segments of society, including students, students, state civil servants (ASN), and the general public.
Another program from BI Central Sulawesi, he continued, is mobile cash to ensure the availability of rupiah currency is suitable for distribution to remote areas. The activity aims to reach people who do not have adequate access to banking services.
"Traveling cash efforts not only ensure the availability of quality rupiah currency, but also become a means of education to the public about the importance of recognizing the characteristics of the authenticity of money," he said.

Central Sulawesi BI also strengthens coordination with law enforcement officials to suppress the circulation of counterfeit money. This step, he said, includes joint education, surveillance operations, to increasing the deterrent effect through strict law enforcement.
As an anticipatory measure, the public is advised to always check the authenticity of the money received by applying the method seen, touching, scanned (3D). In addition, the public is asked to immediately report if they find indications of counterfeit money to the authorities or Bank Indonesia.
"We will continue to increase the intensity of the education and supervision program so that the circulation of counterfeit money can be minimized and the public feels safer in transactions," he said.
