Israel Claims Its Command Forces Invade Plants Productiond By Hundreds Of Missiles Every Year In Syria
JAKARTA - Israeli commandos stormed the site of underground missile production in Syria in September, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said, claiming it produced hundreds of precision missiles for Hezbollah against Israel.
IDF spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani said the complex near Masyaf, the Mediterranean Coast was "Iran's leading manufacturing facility in the region".
"This facility is designed to produce hundreds of strategic missiles per year from start to finish, to be used by Hezbollah in their airstrikes against Israel," he said.
He further said the plant, which was built on the slopes of the mountain, had been observed by Israel since construction began in 2017 and was almost able to produce precision-guided missiles, some with a range of up to 300 km (190 miles).
"This ability becomes active, so we talk about direct threats," he said.
Details of the attack on September 8 have been reported in Israeli media, but Lieutenant Colonel Shoshani said this was the military's first confirmation, which rarely commented on special forces operations and was praised by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"This is one of the most important preventive operations we have carried out against Iran's axis efforts to arm ourselves to attack us," he said in a statement.
Lt. Col. Shoshani said the night attack was "one of the most complicated operations the IDF has carried out in recent years".
Accompanied by airstrikes, the attack involved dozens of planes and about 100 troops carried by helicopters, he said.
"At the end of the attack, troops dismantled the facility, including the machinery and manufacturing equipment itself," he said.
The military released footage showing Israeli troops boarding and descending from helicopters and moving through what appeared to be concrete-layered tunnels and industrial sites, where they checked documents.
Other footage shows senior commanders at the control center, apparently during the operation.
