The Latest News From Malang Earthquake, 4,805 Families Affected And Still Traumatized
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Malang Regency stated that 4,805 families in Malang Regency, East Java, were affected by the earthquake that rocked the area on Saturday, April 10.
PMI Malang Regency Secretary Aprilijanto said out of a total of 4,805 families, it is equivalent to 24,025 people spread across various regions in Malang Regency.
"The general condition of the people affected by the earthquake is still experiencing trauma and fear. There are as many as 4,805 affected families," said Aprilijanto, in Malang Regency, as reported by Antara, Thursday, April 15.
He added that based on PMI Malang Regency data, due to the 6.1 magnitude earthquake, 24 people suffered serious injuries, 14 others suffered minor injuries.

Meanwhile, for the victims who died, continued Aprilijanto, there were four people. The earthquake also damaged 4,805 houses. A total of 1,144 housing units were severely damaged, 1,858 units were moderately damaged, and 1,803 others were slightly damaged.
"Meanwhile, for Malang Regency residents who fled, there were as many as 320 people," he said.
In addition, continued Aprilijanto, 196 public facilities, consisting of government offices, health facilities, places of worship, and schools were damaged, ranging from mild to moderate categories.
According to him, until now, many of the affected residents' residences are still in conditions that are not possible to live in. Thus, many of the affected residents temporarily live on the porch of their homes or evacuate.
Meanwhile, PMI Malang Regency personnel in the field-collected data in two villages, namely Srimulyo and Belerejo Village, in Dampit District. In addition, public kitchens were also opened in the two villages.
"Meanwhile, at the PMI Malang Regency Command Post, we will process the data received from the field post. Then, distribute logistical data and synchronize data with relevant stakeholders," said Aprilijanto.
An earthquake rocked a number of areas in East Java, Saturday (10/4) at 14.00 western Indonesia time. The 6.1 magnitude earthquake centered 90 kilometers southwest of Malang Regency with a depth of 25 kilometers, also affected several other areas in East Java.
