Israel Gives Last Warning To Houthis: Stop Attacks Or Fate Like Hamas And Hezbollah

JAKARTA - Israel delivered the final warning to Yemen's Houthi group to stop its missile attacks, or to suffer the same fate as Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, to Bashar al-Assad in Syria.

This was conveyed by Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon at Monday's UN Security Council meeting, warning that Tehran also has the capability to strike any target in the Middle East, including in Iran, because they will not tolerate Tehran's proxy attacks.

Danon said Israel would not tolerate further Houthi attacks.

"To the Houthis, you may not have noticed what happened in the Middle East over the past year," he said.

"Okay, let me remind you of what happened to Hamas, Hezbollah, Assad, to everyone who has tried to destroy us. Let this be your last warning. This is not a threat. This is a promise. You will experience the same sad fate," said Danon.

In the same meeting, UN Assistant Secretary-General to the Middle East Khaled Khiari reiterated serious concerns about violent escalation, calling on the Houthis to stop attacks on Israel and for international and humanitarian law to be respected.

"Further military escalation could jeopardize regional stability with detrimental political, security, economic and humanitarian impacts," said Khiari.

"Millions of people in Yemen, Israel, and across the region, will continue to bear the burden of endless escalation," he explained.

Prior to the meeting, Danon told reporters: "Israel will defend its people. If 2,000 kilometers are not enough to separate our children from terror, allow me to convince you, it will not be enough to protect their terror from our powers."

Hours after Danon's comments, the Israeli military announced they had intercepted missiles fired from Yemen, prompting sirens across the country.

The Houthis targeted Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv and a power plant south of Jerusalem using the group's hypersonic ballistic missile and ballistic missile, Yahya Saree said on Tuesday.

The Houthis will not stop attacks on Israel, said Mohamed Ali al-Houthi, head of Houthi's top revolutionary committee, after the Israeli military announced missile interceptions.

"The attack on the entity (Israel) continues and support for Gaza continues," he wrote in X.

The Houthis are known to have repeatedly fired drones and missiles at Israel in solidarity with Palestinians who were under Israeli fire in Gaza.

Last week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the Houthis, Israel "has just started" following Israeli attacks on several targets linked to the Houthis in Yemen, including Sanaa airport, the port on the country's west coast, and two power plants.
