Mendes Yandri: Public Kitchens For Free Nutrition Eating Programs Can Be Managed By Villages

JAKARTA - Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Mendes PDT) Yandri Susanto said that public kitchens for free nutritious food programs can be managed by villages.

"We are coordinating with the National Nutrition Agency and will create a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to a free nutritious eating program that will also involve villages," said Yandri Susanto in Bandarlampung, quoted by Antara, Saturday, December 28.

He said that the management of public kitchens in preparing the free nutritious food program can also be managed by villages through BUMDes.

"The National Nutrition Agency can rent a public kitchen built by BUMDes and this can be one of the income for villages so that the village's economic cycle will continue to grow," he said.

In addition to preparing the management of public kitchens that can be managed by villages, said Yandri, the free nutritious eating program will also be made by thematic villages to help provide food.

"In self-sufficiency in food and nutritious food, we not only focus on fulfilling carbohydrates, but also protein and vitamins so that we will map 75 thousand villages according to their existing potential into thematic village," he said.

According to him, the development of the thematic village can also be done using village funds.

"So, with thematic villages that support free nutritious eating programs, raw materials will be met from villages through BUMDes and funds always rotate, next year of course the funds will increase again and can reduce poverty in villages," he said.
