Two Mass Organizations Behind the Commotion in Ciledug Cause Losses for Traders
TANGERANG – The clash between two community organizations (ormas) on Jalan Hos Tjokroaminoto, Larangan, Ciledug, Tangerang City has caused many losses for the surrounding community. One of them is food vendors around the location of the clash.
Let's call him Robi, one of the residents around Larangan, Ciledug who did not want to be named, recounted the moment of the riot between the two mass organizations competing in strength on Friday night, December 21.
Robi said that on that night, each group had gathered while carrying sharp weapons (sajam) in two directions on Jalan Hos Tjokroaminoto.
"So there are those on the right (Jakarta-Tangerang. There are also those on the left (Tangerang-Jakarta)," said Robi when met by VOI at the location, Monday, December 23.
Robi admitted that at the time of the incident he was in the middle, between the two directions. The two groups attacked each other using sharp weapons, and threw stones at each other.
The troublemakers tried to take anything to attack their opponents. They even took the glass belonging to the chicken pecel seller to throw.

“Poor pecel seller, his glass was taken. To be thrown,” said Robi who admitted to being scared at that time.
“His merchandise was left. Scared. Clothes sellers are closing,” he added.
Robi also did not know what triggered the commotion between the two groups. However, according to police sources, the clash was triggered by the issue of lowering the group's flag.
"A misunderstanding between mass organizations. There was a lowering of the flag and hate speech carried out by brother B and brother J from one of the mass organization groups on social media WhatsApp and Facebook," said Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Ade Ary, Monday, December 23.
Although the riot was mediated by the police, the effort was unsuccessful. The members of the mass organization continued to gather and attack each other. As a result of the riot, one person was reported to have suffered a stab wound.
