Yasonna Admits He Was Questioned About Harun Masiku After Being Questioned By The KPK Since Morning

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) under the era of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Yasonna Hamonangan Laoly or Yasonna Laoly has been examined as a witness by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Wednesday, December 18. He was questioned regarding the alleged bribery of the interim replacement process (PAW) that ensnared PDI-P candidate Harun Masiku.

"My capacity (first, ed) as Chairman of the DPP (PDIP, ed)," Yasonna told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, December 18.

Yasonna explained that investigators asked for an explanation regarding the letter to the Supreme Court (MA) which he signed to ask for an interpretation of the Supreme Court Decision Number 57P/HUM/2019. He said that the document was signed to ask for an explanation because there was a difference in understanding between PDIP and the General Elections Commission (KPU) regarding the votes of legislative candidates (caleg) who died.

"As Chairman of the DPP, I sent a letter requesting a fatwa to the Supreme Court because during the deliberation process there was a different interpretation after a judicial review. There was a decision from the Supreme Court Number 57 then the PDIP DPP sent a letter regarding the determination of the legislative candidate and then the KPU responded differently," he explained.

"Then we ask the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court to return the fatwa in accordance with legal considerations so that there are legal considerations regarding party discretion in determining the elected candidate," continued the PDIP politician.

Then, Yasonna was also asked for information as Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia. He said investigators were questioning him about the crossing data of Harun Masiku who was still at large.

It is known, Yasonna once stated that Harun Masiku had not returned to Indonesia from Singapore. This statement was made after the KPK failed to arrest Harun during a hand arrest operation (OTT) on January 8, 2020.

In fact, based on CCTV footage at Soekarno-Hatta Airport circulating, Harun returned to Indonesia on January 7 or before the OTT took place.

"Nothing is what, professional investigator. Very professional, yes, asking according to my position as Chairman of the DPP then regarding Harun Masiku's crossing," he said.

Furthermore, Yasonna said that the examination was actually not too long. However, he could not get out because the KPK's Red and White Building was raided by a mob who urged Harun Masiku to be arrested immediately.

This action was followed by various community groups. They even burned tires in front of the building.

As previously reported, the KPK is still looking for the whereabouts of Harun Masiku, who is the briber of former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan. This is because he is a fugitive from 2020 or when the hand arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.

Recently, the anti-corruption commission has updated the wanted list (DPO) on behalf of Harun Masiku. The file was signed by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, on December 5, 2024 and registered with the number: R/5739/DIK.01.02/01-23/12/2024.
