Soon To Discuss War With Putin And Zelensky, Trump Donal: This Must Stop

JAKARTA - United States President-elect Donald Trump said on Monday Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should be ready to make a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war between the two countries that has been going on since 2022.

"You have to make an agreement," Trump told a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago club at Palm Beach, Florida.

The Republican politician further said he would speak with Kremlin and Kyiv leaders to end the war, stressing he was disturbed by the pictures of the massacre of the conflict.

"This must be stopped," Trump said.

Trump did not give an immediate answer when asked if he believed Ukraine should hand over its territory to Russia as part of a negotiated settlement to end the war.

However, he said most of the disputed territory had become rubble and would take a century to recover it.

"I mean, there are cities that don't have buildings to stand on, they are the site of the destruction," he said.

He added that he had been shown pictures of a battlefield full of corpses, reminding him of several terrible photos of the 1861-1865 American Civil War.

Trump said he wanted to end the war quickly, but was still silent about the details.

In an interview with Time magazine published last week he said he had "very good plans" to help, but if he revealed it now "it would be a useless plan."
