Wamendikdasmen: In Tanah Minang The Birth Place Of The Founders Of The Nation, Ulama, And Education Leaders

Deputy Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Fajar Riza Ul Haq said that West Sumatra meant for him, and he thought that many Indonesian national figures came from West Sumatra.

"West Sumatra has an important meaning in my life. My ancestors are descendants of Bukittinggi. My life teacher is a national figure from Minang Ranah in Sumpur Kudus, Buya Ahmad Syafii Maarif," said Fajar.

He added that in Minang land, the founders of the nation's place of birth, great scholars, and education figures were also born.

"We need to learn the history of life struggles from these great figures from this Minang land. There are Bung Hatta, KH Agus Salim, Tan Malaka, Buya HAMKA, Rohana Kudus, Engku Sjafei and many more. Both the past Minang and contemporary Minang figures such as Buya Syafii Maarif," explained Fajar.

The visit of the Deputy Minister of Education and Culture in West Sumatra lasted for three days, 12 to 14 December 2024. He visited a number of schools in West Sumatra, namely SD Experiment Ujung Gurun, SMP 6 Muhammadiyah Muhammadiyah, and Kalam Kudus School on Friday, December 13.

On the same occasion, he also emphasized the importance of special and intense attention to seven student habits as an effort to improve the quality of learning and quality of life of students. The seven habits include getting up in the morning, worshiping, exercising, eating healthy and nutritious, enjoying learning, society, and fast rest, in their daily lives.

Fajar also said that reducing the rivalry and gap in the quality of education to realize quality education for all is a big effort of the Ministry of Education and Culture under the current leadership of Abdul Mu'ti.

After visiting the school, the Minister of Education and Culture who is also the Chair of the PP Muhammadiyah Stategis Partnership Study Institute (LKKS) became a preacher on Friday at the At-Taqwa Muhammadiyah Mosque in Padang City and attended a public lecture at the University of Muhammadiyah, West Sumatra and the inauguration of the West Sumatra Hezbul Wathan (HW) Management.
