Prabowo Agrees To Additional Sports Hours At School, At Least One Hour Per Day
JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo met with President Prabowo Subianto together with the Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti to discuss programs to increase sports hours and movement hours for students in schools.
"What we will encourage is how to encourage these students to move again and also increase sports hours and also cultivate more sports, earlier Mr. President even wants at least one hour of the target, but we will do it gradually," said Dito at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 9.
Dito said the activity would be launched under the name of the program "Indonesia Budget Movement, Let's Move".
In the program, students will be taught again about the importance of exercising in order to keep a healthy body in shape.
Not only through the addition of lesson hours in the classroom or intracule, this program is also prepared to enter activities outside of school hours or extracurricular.

"This is also how to form the seeds of athletes from an early age, from the lowest level of education," he said.
The proposal requires children to do gymnastics at school, actually the Menpora has expressed it since 2023.
According to Dito, this step is one of the cornerstones of the physical formation and character of all sports.
"It should be noted that the Ministry of Youth and Sports encouragesgymnastics to be held at all levels of school, now it is in the finalization stage, hopefully it can be done by the end of this year," said Dito in a written statement, Thursday (6/7).
"Becausegymnastics is one of the mothers of sports in the context of the physical formation and character of today's generation and the younger generation in the future in all sports," he added.
