Social Minister Supports Agus Bentung's Legal Process, Police Extend House Detention Period

Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf met (IWAS) alias Agus Bentung, a suspect in the alleged sexual violence (TPKS) case in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The Minister of Social Affairs ensured the fulfillment of Agus' needs as a person with disabilities.

"I appreciate the Kapolda, respect for the Kapolda and his staff because he has a decision regarding service guidelines for persons with disabilities who are in conflict with the law," said the Minister of Social Affairs as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 9.

The Minister of Social Affairs believes that the NTB police will properly fulfill and accommodate Agus' rights while continuing the legal process for the alleged TPKS case carried out by Agus carefully and carefully.

The Minister of Social Affairs also revealed that he had met Agus Bentung and his lawyers to find out Agus' condition and the legal process he had gone through so far.

Gus Ipul also mentioned that Agus' rights were fulfilled during the legal process, including special technical services that required medical to psychological services.

"So that when Mas Agus, for example, was examined, he was not depressed, in a comfortable condition, so he was ready to be examined. Because his rights had been fulfilled," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

Meanwhile, the NTB Police Chief Inspector General Hadi Gunawan said that his party was committed to fulfilling Agus' rights as a suspect with disabilities. One of his policies is to give Agus a status as a house prisoner.

"Actually, this is part of us paying attention to the rights of the perpetrators. Why are we paying attention to it? Because indeed we at the Polda of our limited detention center have not provided that," said Inspector General Hadi.

Today Agus is also still being investigated and accompanied by his new lawyer. His party has extended Agus' detention period for the next 40 days as a house arrest.

"Currently we are focusing on the case files that we have examined and we have reported two people at the interview (BAI), one of which is that there are children," he said.
