Muzani Says There Was No Invitation From Prabowo To Jokowi To Join Gerindra
Secretary General of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, responded to the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo in Kertanegara on Friday, December 6, last week.
During the meeting, Muzani said that Prabowo had no invitation to Jokowi to join Gerindra.
"Pak Prabowo's meeting with Pak Jokowi was a reply from Pak Jokowi, replying to Pak Prabowo's visit to Solo the other day. That's in the tradition of gathering something ordinary. Visiting, replying to friendship is normal," said Muzani at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, December 9.
"Pak Jokowi feels that Pak Prabowo has visited him in Solo, so Pak Jokowi feels that he must also reply to Pak Prabowo's friendship to Solo. Now what is being discussed, is light and easy," he continued.
Muzani said that the Gerindra Party would certainly be happy if Jokowi wanted to join. It's just that, he said, Gerindra has never openly invited the former president to become a cadre.
"Yes, specifically no. The only principle is that Gerindra is an open party. An open party means that we are open to, let alone people with a caliber of Mr. Jokowi as a former president who has services and character that everyone has acknowledged," said Muzani.
"If he wants to join, of course, it is a very great honor for us. That's why we feel the honor, of course. But in the end he will all be returned to him," he added.
