Even Though It Has Not Been Completed, These 3 Toll Roads Will Be Operated During Christmas And New Year

JAKARTA - The National Police Headquarters Inspector General Aan Suhanan said he would operate several toll roads as a functional route during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year moments.

This was conveyed during a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission III of the DPR RI in Senayan, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, December 4.

"There are several toll roads that will be functionalized, meaning that they are free of charge because actually the toll road has not been completed," said Aan.

The toll roads in question are Klaten-Prambanan which are on the Yogyakarta-Solo route. Then, South Cikampek with a distance of 8 kilometers and Probolinggo-Banyuwangi with a length of 10.3 kilometers.

Although the three toll roads have not been completely completed, Aan said the route could be used based on studies both in terms of safety and others.

The use of the toll road is only to reduce density on the main route and provide a smoother and more efficient alternative.

"We have conducted surveys, reviewed, seen from the safety side, how many roads will be functionalized, this is suitable for use, especially at certain hours," said Aan.

Meanwhile, 110 million people will travel during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 moments. That figure also increased when compared to the previous year.

When compared with 2023 data, as many as 107 million people throughout Indonesia make movements to various regions during Christmas and New Year's Eve. This means that there was an increase of 2.8 percent.
