Vice President Gibran Affirms The Importance Of Persons With Disabilities In Public Transportation Planning

JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Gibran Rakabuming Raka emphasized the importance of the involvement of people with disabilities in planning and checking infrastructure and public transportation in Indonesia.

"His involvement must be further activated in planning infrastructure checks and public transportation," said the Vice President in a speech at the peak of the 2024 International Day of Persons with Disabilities (HDI) held at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Jakarta, Tuesday, December 3, was confiscated by Antara.

The Vice President emphasized that the rights of persons with disabilities must be seriously guarded by all parties in an effort to expand the accessibility and involvement of persons with disabilities.

On that occasion, the Vice President called on all parties to oversee the rights of persons with disabilities that have been regulated in Law Number 8 of 2016 concerning Persons with Disabilities.

"Now the key is implementation in the field. There is an escort in the field, we must do this together," said the Vice President.

The vice president said the provisions regulate the similarity of opportunities for the fulfillment of rights, discrimination, empowerment, protection, and accessibility of persons with disabilities.

"The ten derivative regulations already exist," said the Vice President.

He also emphasized the need to expand the accessibility of persons with disabilities in various sectors, such as education, health, employment, public facilities, capital, as well as law and judiciary.

In his speech, Vice President Gibran called for increased collaboration across ministries/agencies, central and local governments, the private sector, and community organizations.

"I also ask the Coordinating Minister, Ministers, Deputy Ministers who attend, across ministries and institutions, across central and local governments, and even the private sector, community organizations. We need joint work to make it happen," said Gibran.
