Rain Guyur Bengkulu, 473 Families In 18 Villages Affected By Floods

BENGKULU - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded as many as 473 heads of families (KK) in 18 sub-districts in Bengkulu City affected by post-rain floods that occurred since Sunday, December 1 night.

"Hundreds of family heads were affected by the flood and we have also evacuated 10 motorbikes," said Bengkulu City BPBD Chief Executive Will Hoppi in Bengkulu, Monday, December 2, confiscated by Antara.

He said the 18 sub-districts were located in five sub-districts of Bengkulu City, namely Singaran Pati District, Ratu Agung District, Selebar District, Kampung Melayu District, and Muara Bangkahulu District.

Based on the information and data received from members of the Bengkulu City BPBD in the field, he said, due to the submerging of hundreds of houses, the residents did not cause any casualties.

Apart from residents' houses, he said, due to heavy rains that occurred in Bengkulu City, there was also a fallen tree that hit a resident's house.

"In addition to the flood that submerged hundreds of families, fallen trees also hit one of the houses in Teluk Segara District at 09.00 WIB, but there were no casualties in this incident," he said.

Meanwhile, the Class III Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Fatmawati Soekarno said the potential for rain with moderate to heavy intensity and high waves in the Bengkulu region for the next few days.

BMKG forecaster Fatmawati Bengkulu Station, Rahyu Meylansari, said that almost all Bengkulu areas had rain with varying intensity.

For areas that have the potential for rain to occur, such as Mukomuko Regency, North Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu City, Seluma Regency, South Bengkulu Regency, Central Bengkulu Regency, Kepahiang Regency, and others.

The rainfall with moderate to heavy intensity, said Rahyu, was caused by the Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO) phenomenon and low pressure which caused wind bends.

"In addition to rain, sea wave heights in Bengkulu waters also need to be watched out for. For the estimated wave in the waters of Enggano and the Indian Ocean, it is estimated that it reaches 0.5 to two meters," he said.
