Bank Mandiri Completes Mandiri In 2024, Successfully Give Birth To Thousands Of New Entrepreneurs

Bank Mandiri has again proven its commitment to supporting the empowerment of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) as well as encouraging the people's economy through Mandiri's flagship program. At the closing ceremony of Mandiri in 2024, more than 900 PMIs were also present to enliven this activity.

Carrying the theme "Becoming an Entrepreneur in your Own Country", this event emphasized Bank Mandiri's role in encouraging the spirit of entrepreneurship, building learning groups, and expanding access to financial services for PMIs as part of the Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL). President Director of Bank Mandiri, Darmawan Junaidi, explained that this program is a tangible manifestation of Bank Mandiri's role in providing added value to the community while strengthening the national economy.

"We are committed to empowering PMI to become independent entrepreneurs in the country. Through Mandiri, we provide the training and access to finances they need," Darmawan said at the closing ceremony and the moment of his appreciation for Mandiri 2024 at Queensway, Admiralty, Hong Kong, Sunday 1 December.

The year 2024 will be a moment of achievement for Mandiri. More than 1,400 PMIs in six countries include Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Malaysia, South Korea, and Japan have participated in financial training and entrepreneurship coaching, which prompted the birth of new entrepreneurs. Through this event, participants also experienced Bank Mandiri's digital services by digitally opening 648 new accounts, while others are increasingly actively optimizing transaction solutions in Livin' by Mandiri.

As part of a series of events, Bank Mandiri held a number of prestigious competitions designed to appreciate and motivate Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI). One of them, Best Transakor Mandiri Sekuritas, gave PMI an award with the highest investment transactions through the Livin' by Mandiri application.

My Future Business Competition also attracted attention, the participants presented their business ideas using Business Model Canvas, with total prizes reaching MYR 3,500 and HKD 6,500. The Business Dare event became the main competition by giving awards to PMIs who managed to start an independent business, with prizes worth HKD 9,000.

Not only focusing on PMI, but Bank Mandiri also awarded Best Boss awards to the three best employers in Hong Kong who have shown extraordinary support for PMI's development and learning through this program.

"We hope that through this competition and awards, PMIs will not only get appreciation, but also encouragement to continue to develop their potential and bring positive changes to themselves, their families, and communities in the country," added Darmawan.

In this event, Bank Mandiri also introduced the latest innovation through the Livin' Around The World service. With this feature, account opening can be done using phone numbers from more than 119 countries. This service allows customers to access multicurrency features in seven currencies, Mutual Funds and SBN investments, to Independent Plan Savings. Bank Mandiri also complements customer experience with an exclusive program in the form of cashback for first transactions and balance bonuses for new users.

"This innovation is our commitment to continue to innovate and get closer to customers and the community, including the diaspora and PMI who are abroad," added Darmawan.

Furthermore, the closing ceremony of Mandiri in 2024 was also lively with the appearance of Indonesian singer Nella Kharisma, fashion show & appearance of angklung by PMI and the Reog Ponorogo attraction from the Singo Wiromo Community. In addition, there is also an area of the PMI Learning Group fostered by Bank Mandiri, free business consulting services, digital banking solutions, Mandiri Sekuritas, to official services from the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong at the event.

For information, since its launch in 2011, the Mandiri Program has empowered more than 19,000 PMIs in six countries. With the support of various partners and mentors, this program continues to develop a learning community for PMI and PMI retired. In 2025, Bank Mandiri targets training for 1,000 PMIs, learning community development, as well as increasing financial literacy and services for all Indonesian migrant workers, in order to realize the ideals of making them successful independent business actors.
