Future Tourism Trends: Vacation To Space Is Predicted To Be Popular In 2054

JAKARTA - Experts have predicted a tourist trend in the next 30 years, tourists may leave the comfort of the holidays by the pool or beach to turn to space adventures.

Reported by VOI from the Independent website on Friday, November 29, 2024, this prediction came from a travel company in Manchester, Travel Counsels has collaborated with an applied futurist named Tom Cheesewright.

Tom is a consultant who helps businesses plan the future by considering technological developments, social changes, and the impact of climate change.

According to experts, in the future people will have different priorities in choosing vacation destinations. This reflects a change in their lifestyle.

As technology gets more and more integrated with everyday life, holidays in the 2050s are expected to be a time for 'detoxy', from continuous connection with the screen and more focused on social interactions among humans.

Perhaps, future hotels will be designed to hide technology, bring guests back to the ancient atmosphere, where checks-ins are signed with a pen, not a touchscreen, and replace electronic keys into metal keys.

However, for some people who are more interested in technological innovation, vacations to space are expected to become a major tourist trend in the future.

Space travel is already in the development stage, with figures like Jeff Bezos who have successfully launched six tourists into space last May, and Jared Isaacman who made the first private spacewalk in September.

Cheesecorrect predicts that in the future, companies can send humans into orbit at a low cost of 10 pounds, or IDR 201 thousand. This makes the journey into space to see Earth's arch more affordable.

Apart from space, air travel is also expected to undergo a major transformation. Experts believe, by 2054, supersonic aircraft will become a reality, allowing travelers to achieve their goals in a much faster time.

Companies like Venus Aerospace are developing hypersonic technology for high-speed air travel. Last October, they launched a new hypersonic engine which is expected to realize commercial flights at incredible speed.

For short-distance flights, electric jets can be commonplace. This replaces conventional aircraft to reduce noise and emission pollution, while reducing flight carbon footprint. With rapidly growing battery technology, the capacity is getting bigger every five to seven years. Electric-powered aircraft can be a more environmentally friendly future flight.

In addition to faster and more environmentally friendly aircraft, Cheesewright also predicts that queues at airports will be much reduced thanks to more advanced technology.

Multi-spectrum sensors and facial biometric scanning, heart rate, and breathing can speed up the security check process, making airport experience more efficient.

However, climate change may affect the choice of tourist destinations. Extreme weather has begun to make tourists rethink their vacation sites, and many are starting to avoid destinations that are more prone to natural disasters.

Cheesewright predicts that popular summer destinations can get too hot to visit. This encourages tourists to look for a norther destination. He also predicts the emergence of new resorts in winter destinations, such as artificial beaches built on alpine lakes in the mountains.

"It's very interesting to imagine the future of travel and how this progress will change our experience. Although technology plays a major role in creating sophisticated new ways to explore the world," said Steve Myr, CEO of Travel Counsels.

"People's desire to maximize their free time, as well as the need for an authentic human connection, remains of the same importance, both in the holiday experience itself and in the personal touch given by travel professionals." he continued.

In the next 30 years, the holidays could be much different from what we know today, with technologies and innovations that open up new possibilities to explore the world and even outer space.
