Coordinating Minister For Human Development And Culture Cak Imin Encourages Assistance For Victims Of Online Gambling Recovered By BPJS Health-Employment

Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment (PM) Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin hopes that assistance for victims of online gambling (judol) is handled through the Health Social Security Administration (BPJS) and BPJS Employment or BPJAMSOSTEK.

"We hope that the victims of online gambling can be handled through BPJS Kesehatan and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan or BPJAMSOSTEK," said Cak Imin when giving a statement at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Tuesday, November 26, which was confiscated by Antara.

Cak Imin said the government had not discussed social assistance for victims affected by online gambling.

Based on the information gathered, rehabilitation patients are addicted to online gambling, especially at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, including in treatment services borne by BPJS Kesehatan.

According to Cak Imin, the impact of online gambling clearly adds to the number of poor people in Indonesia, and can be interpreted as a social disaster.

"So, online gambling increases the number of new povertys. That means social disasters. It must be taken seriously," said Cak Imin.

He also noted that the number of extreme poor people in Indonesia is still around 2.3 million people or about 0.8 percent of the total population, and 23-24 million people or 8.3 percent of the population including the poor.

The government is also trying to shift the paradigm of social assistance into empowerment programs targeting people in the extreme poor category.

The form of the empowerment program is in the form of training, access to capital, market creation, increasing MSME classes, increasing the class of community economic actors, especially the availability of production raw materials.
