Meta Launches Live Location Sharing Feature On Instagram DM

JAKARTA - Meta is rolling out some new features to Instagram, which includes 17 new stickers and updated DM stickers, nicknames for you and friends, as well as live-sharing.

27 new Stickers

Now, there are 17 new sticker packages with more than 300 stickers to share on Instagram's Direct Message (DM). Just like on WhatsApp, you can also favorite stickers from your chat, so you can use them again.

Nickname

Now you can customize your name in Instagram DM by adding a nickname (nickname) for yourself or friends. How it works is a little similar when you change the contact name on your phone.

To create a nickname, tap the chat name at the top of the conversation. Then, tap "nickname" and give a nickname. The nickname only appears in the DM chat, and will not change the username.

Share location

Finally, now you can share the latest location for up to 1 hour. Or, you can also tag the location on the map to coordinate arrival times, activities, or find the location of your friends.

Direct locations can only be shared privately in DM, both in 1:1 and group chats, and will expire after 1 hour, and disabled by default.

When sharing, only those in certain chats can see your location and your location cannot be forwarded to other chats.
