JAKARTA - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) predicts that the number of passengers to be served by the company will reach 3 million people in the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year periods. This number has increased by 4 percent compared to the previous year.
"It is estimated that in the 2024/2025 Nataru service, there will be an increase in the number of passengers by 4 percent to around 3 million people," said President Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Heru Widodo in an official statement, written Tuesday, November 26.
Heru revealed that the increase also occurred in vehicles. He said that during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 periods, the increase reached 7 percent.
"And vehicles are predicted to increase by 7.1 percent to around 700,000 vehicles," said Heru in detail.
To ensure the fulfillment of excellent crossing services during the Christmas and New Year 2024/2025 holidays, Heru checked crossing facilities and infrastructure, directly to Merak and Bakauheni ports, last weekend.
"One of our concerns is that people get excellent crossing and port services, during the upcoming Christmas and New Year's Transportation, we have prepared a number of anticipatory steps and efforts to increase port capacity," he said.
Heru said to anticipate the surge in passenger flow during the Nataru period on the Merak-Bakauheni track, ASDP has increased port capacity by integrating Merak port with the Indah Kiat port which is located right next to the regular seven dock.
With this integration, he continued, the capacity of vehicles at the port will increase by around 500 small vehicles.
"With the integration with the Indah Kiat Port land which is located right next to the regular 7 pier, the capacity of the parking area reaches around 6,026 small vehicles, where last year only about 5,500 vehicles," he said.

According to Heru, the 25-meter-long travelator has also been installed at regular piers. The health posts and customer service will be opened 24 hours full during the Nataru period.
The self service port service has been completed and will be implemented during the Nataru period so that service users can carry out the check-in and boarding process independently and the service process to enter the ship will run faster. We hope that with the improvement of facilities and services, we can ensure that crossing services during Nataru can run smoothly and comfortably," he said.
