JAKARTA - The Baturaja District Court sentenced ED to death in the sadistic murder case of Hairuni's grandmother at Karet Garden Dusun IX, Kedaton Village, Peninjauan Raya (KPR), Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU).

Meanwhile, the other two defendants, members of ED's family, namely MU and RZ who were involved in the murder, were sentenced to life imprisonment.

Public Prosecutor (JPU) Choirun Parapat said the decision of the Chief Justice M Fahri Ihsan stated that the defendants legally committed heinous and sadistic murder of the victim.

"In this case, there are three defendants who were tried, namely ED, MU and RZ, who are none other than one family," he said at the Baturaja District Court, Thursday, November 21, which was confiscated by Antara.

The defendant ED was sentenced to a heavier sentence because according to the judge's consideration he played the main actor in the premeditated murder of Hairuni's grandmother who was found dead covered in blood on March 2.

"From the level of criminal offense, it is considered sadistic and barbaric. Meanwhile, there are no mitigating factors," he said.

Meanwhile, the judge considered that the defendants MU and RZ were sentenced to life imprisonment because both of them were categorized as participating in the murder as in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.

"At the previous trial, we asked the panel of judges handling this case so that the defendants MU and RZ were also sentenced to death," he said.

Regarding this verdict, the defendants filed an appeal at the South Sumatra High Court (PT).

Meanwhile, the Public Prosecutor stated that he had thought about it first for seven days to make the next decision.

The motive for the sadistic murder of Hairuni's grandmother was motivated by the dispute over the yard between the perpetrators and the victims.

The perpetrators sought the right time to kill the victim while tapping a rubber tree.

The victim's body was found dead in a rubber plantation in a pathetic condition with three stab wounds all over his body and a cut in the neck using sharp weapons.

In this case, the police secured evidence in the form of a pink carrying bag, two rubber tapping tools, a sharp machete, which was strongly suspected of being used by the perpetrators to kill the victim.
