Ministry of Communication and Digital Committed to Eradicate Online Gambling after Employee Becomes Suspect

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) remains committed to eradicating online gambling even though several employees have been named as suspects.

"Yesterday, 10 people were deactivated and we also continue to add personnel. The point is that we are committed to eradicating online gambling. The latest is that some were arrested and we support the Police, in this case law enforcement officers, to do their utmost to eradicate online gambling," said Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Angga Raka Prabowo.

Anticipating employees not to be involved in online gambling, Angga will increase their love for the country so that they do not commit such crimes.

"We are strengthening it internally by raising their commitment to increase their love for the country. I am sure that the commitment of our friends inside is also getting better. We convince them that this is a sacred duty, a state duty, and they remember that there are families waiting at home. We also hope that it will not happen again," said Angga.

Previously, the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Jakarta Metro Police arrested three new suspects in an online gambling case involving employees of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi), Saturday (11/16/2024). They were previously fugitives or on the police's wanted list (DPO).

"Thank God, we have made or succeeded in making arrests of three Wanted Suspects (DPO), namely the initials B, BK, and HF," said the Director of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Wira Satya Triputra.

Wira said that the arrests increased the number of suspects in the online gambling case involving employees Komdigi has now reached 22 people. He said, investigators continue to develop and make arrests of other suspects. Likewise with additional evidence based on statements submitted by the suspect.
