UK Sanksi Airlines And Iranian Shipping Companies In The Aftermath Of Missile Delivery To Russia

JAKARTA - Britain has imposed sanctions on national airlines and Iranian shipping companies. This action is in response to the delivery of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia.

Iran Air and the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) will face asset freezes due to their role in supplying weapons to Russia for use on the battlefield against Ukraine, Britain said.

Iran's efforts to weaken global security are dangerous and unacceptable, British Foreign Minister David Lemmy said.

"We are repeating our call for Iran to stop its support for Russia's illegal war in Ukraine," he continued.

The sanctions will then limit Iran Air's direct commercial air services to and from the UK.

Britain has also sanctioned Russian cargo ship PORT OLYA-3 for its role in transporting military supplies to Russia.
