Trump May Review Biden Administration's Decision On Ukraine's Attack On Russia With US Weapons

JAKARTA - United States President-elect Donald Trump is likely to review his predecessor's decision to allow the US-backed use of long-range missiles to attack Russian territory, a member of Trump's transition team said.

"I suspect almost everything will be reviewed. The United States only has one president at a certain time. Until the afternoon of January 20, 2025, the president is Joe Biden," said the figure who asked not to be named to TASS as reported November 18.

"Allowing the missile to be used is his decision, but it will not take long," he said when asked if President Biden's decision could be reviewed by Trump when he took office in January 2025.

As previously reported, the administration of US President Joe Biden reportedly allowed the use of their homemade weapons to attack Russian territory, two US officials and a source familiar with the decision said on Sunday.

Ukraine plans to carry out its first long-range strike in the coming days, the source said, without disclosing details due to operational security concerns.

Ukraine's first deep attack is likely to be carried out using ATACMS rockets, which have a range of up to 190 miles (306 km), according to the source.

Meanwhile, some US officials have expressed skepticism, allowing long-range attacks to change the course of war as a whole, the decision could help Ukraine by a time when Russian forces make a profit and possibly put Kyiv in a better negotiating position when and if ceasefire talks take place.

The Pentagon declined to comment on the report, while the White House and State Department have not responded to TASS's inquiries.
