Russian Airstrikes Against Ukraine Kill 10 People, Two Of Them Children
Ten people, including two children, were killed and 52 injured on Sunday night when a Russian missile hit a nine-story residential building in the northeastern Ukraine region, Ukrainian emergency services and military said.
"Sunday night for the city of Sumy to hell, a tragedy that Russia brought to our land," said Volodymyr Artyukh, head of Sumy's military administration in a post on the government's Telegram message channel.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's State Emergency Service said on Telegram, rescue teams and all required services were continuing to work at the scene and psychologists provided assistance to those affected.
Images posted on Telegram The service showed firefighters struggling against the fire that burned cars and rescue teams carrying people out of a building.
A photo shows a multilevel building with almost all windows broken and faulty facilities. More than 400 people were evacuated, the Service added.
The attack on Sumy came after Russia attacked Ukraine's power grid one morning in what Kyiv called a "massive" attack with 120 missiles and 90 unmanned aircraft that killed at least seven people.
Reuters was unable to independently verify Ukraine's report. There was no immediate comment from Moscow.
