Ma'ruf Amin: Andra Soni Has A Commitment To Listening To Ulama's Advice

JAKARTA - The candidate for governor of Banten, Andra Soni, accompanied by former Mayor of Tangerang, Arief R. Wismansyah, visited the residence of an elderly Banten cleric who is also Vice President for the 2019-2024 period, KH Ma'ruf Amin, on Jalan Raya Tapos No. 47-50, Depok, West Java, on Friday, November 15.

Andra Soni discussed many things with the former vice president, especially regarding conditions and development in Banten. After hearing Andra's commitment, the kiai decided to support the candidate for governor number two.

"I actually never want to support anyone in the election contestation. However, after talking a lot of things with Mr. Andra and hearing his commitment to working together and wanting to listen to the advice of the kiai, I decided to support him," said KH Ma'ruf Amin.

The chairman of the MUI for the 2015-2024 period added that not many leaders were willing to follow the advice of the kiai, but Andra Soni showed good commitment in this regard.

"From our conversation, I know Pak Andra is a person who is committed to listening to the advice of the kiai. So, I invite kiai throughout Banten and their students to support Pak Andra Soni as the next Governor of Banten," he said.

KH Ma'ruf Amin also stated that by supporting Andra Soni and Dimyati Natakusumah in the upcoming Banten gubernatorial election, Banten will have a new spirit of change.

"Banten will have a new spirit and a new leadership pattern, so that the people of Banten will be more prosperous," said Rais 'Aam PB NU for the 2015-2018 period.

Getting this support, Banten Governor Candidate Andra Soni said he was happy after visiting KH Ma'ruf Amin's residence.

"Alhamdulillah, earlier I was accompanied by the former Mayor of Tangerang for two periods, Mr. Arief R. Wismansyah, and members of the DPRD from the Gerindra faction, Mr. Turidi, sowan to the PKB leadership who is also the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2019-2024 period, Mr. KH Ma'ruf Amin," Andra Soni told reporters, Friday, November 15.

On that occasion, he continued, he received a lot of advice, including about how to become a leader in Banten.

"He also asked me to listen to the advice of the ulama and cooperate with them. I also agreed and committed to listening to the advice of the ulama in leading Banten," he said.

Andra Soni stated that the support from KH Ma'ruf Amin, who asked all Banten scholars to unite to support himself and his deputy, Dimyati Natakusumah, gave a new spirit to his struggle.

"With the support of KH Ma'ruf Amin, I feel a new spirit to provide progress and justice in Banten," said the former chairman of the Banten DPRD.
