Meeting With The Minister Of Education And Culture, The National Police Chief Agrees That Student Discipline Problems Are Solved Through Restorative
JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that he would prioritize mediation and restorative justice related to disciplinary problems in schools that lead to law.
The statement was made after holding a meeting with the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti at the National Police Headquarters.
"Therefore, there is certainly interaction between students, teachers, parents, which of course we must maintain by providing greater space when there are problems that can be done things that are restorative or mediated," said Sigit to reporters, Tuesday, November 12.
During the meeting, threats were also discussed to the younger generation such as drugs, online gambling and brawls.
As a result, the National Police and the Ministry of Education and Culture agreed to work together to resolve the problem.
"We together agreed to cooperate so that we can really prepare the younger generation well and he provides a role and cooperation for the Police to be able to participate in coaching related to problems that have an impact on Kamtibmas," he said.
Education in Papua is also the main focus. In supporting the world of education, the National Police Chief said that the National Police has a program in Papua, namely the Police Teaching. With this meeting, he continued, it can certainly increase the ability of members (Bhabinkamtibmas) in the teaching police program.
"He (Mendikdasmen) also provides space for our skills to be improved. So that then our program for Papua, to improve the quality of human resources and also of course the welfare of the Papuan people through government programs, can run well," concluded the National Police Chief.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Education and Culture Abdul Mu'ti emphasized his understanding with the National Police to create an educational atmosphere in a safe, comfortable and friendly educational environment.
According to him, the problem of violence in educational institutions that still often occur can be resolved by family means.
"We have an understanding with the National Police Chief regarding how the various violent issues that still occur in educational institutions can be resolved with a family approach, a deliberation approach or a legal language restorative justice," said Abdul.
In addition, for student discipline issues, the National Police and the Ministry of Education and Culture have the idea of implementing the Bhayangkara Scout program. The goal is to increase the discipline of the students.
"Because of the scout leadership and other guidelines, we also need to shape Bhayangkara's soul and also the attitudes among these students with discipline and various positive things for their future," said Abdul.
