The Boss Of Tunisia's Largest Oil Oil Company Detained In Land Corruption

JAKARTA - The boss of Tunisia's largest oil exporter, the CHO group, named Abdelaziz Makholoufi, was detained on suspicion of land corruption.

Citing Tunisia Business News via AFP, a source said Makholoufi's detention was carried out yesterday and extended to Tuesday 12 November.

The CHO group led by Makholoufi is an oil producer for the Terra Dellyssa brand which is exported abroad.

Makhoulofi is also known in Tunisia as president of the CS football club Sfaxien.

Initially, Makholoufi was examined on November 2 as part of an investigation into alleged corruption in the management of state-owned land Henchir Chaal planted with 360,000 olive plants.

Mosaique FM reported that a total of 15 people, including former Tunisian Agriculture Minister, were caught up in this case.

President Tunisa Kais Saied, who is considered a critic, continues the old authoritarian regime, is indeed carrying out acts to eradicate corruption as his top priority policy.

Tunisia itself is in the agricultural industry relying on exports of dates and olive oil commodities.
