Reduce Smoking Habits To Help Workers Avoid Stress
JAKARTA - A deep approach so that workers do not carry out risky habits that are coping mechanisms such as smoking seems to help avoid the risk of stress. At least this was said by psychologist Sukmayanti Rafisukmawan.
"Gradually, for example, reducing smoking habits by using products that are much lower in risk, such as alternative tobacco products and while continuing to provide counseling with psychologists. The point is that it can stabilize," said Sukmayanti Rafisukmawan in a statement in Jakarta, Wednesday.
He said that adult smokers who have difficulty quitting smoking directly can prioritize risk reduction efforts by switching through the use of alternative tobacco products.
"If it stops immediately, it turns out that it doesn't work and remains forced, it will cause excessive anxiety, so that it has an impact on decreasing levels of concentration, moods that are easily changing, and vulnerable to emotions. In the end, there are most likely relaxations," said Sukmayanti.
In line with Sukmayanti, Clinical Nutrition Specialist Andry Kelvianto said that reducing bad habits due to stress needs to be done gradually. This strategy, according to him, can also be applied to reduce the risk of smoking.
"We replace using products that are in a lower way at risk, so as not to eliminate some of the needs that a person can use to reduce stress. So, a person does not feel too heavy because they do not change 180 degrees. That is one of the risk reductions we can do," he said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Puspita Tri Utami as the representative of the Ministry of Health's Mental Health Directorate said that stress on workers could have an impact on psychological and physiological aspects.
Psychologically, stress can trigger depression, psychosomatic, to mental problems.
Meanwhile, from a physiological point of view, stress can cause various health problems ranging from cardiovascular, diabetes mellitus, musculoskeletal, headaches, to immunity disorders.
"Health and physical health are closely related, because the hormone cortisol can cause physical disorders, so we must maintain mental health," said Puspita.
