Ministry Of Public Works For Rehabilitation Of Cibaliung Irrigation Regions For Agriculture

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has started the rehabilitation of the Cibaliung Irrigation Region (DI) in order to increase agricultural productivity in Pandeglang Regency, Banten.

"The irrigation network development and rehabilitation program is one of the priority programs of the Ministry of Public Works in order to support sustainable agricultural production," said Director General of Water Resources at the Ministry of Public Works Bob Arthur Lombgia as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 4.

The Ministry (PU) is expanding the coverage of the parent irrigation network sourced from the Cibaliung Dam in Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province.

The increase in the capacity of irrigation channels in the Cibaliung Irrigation Region (DI) is part of efforts to increase the productivity of Banten Province's agriculture in order to support Asta Cita for the food self-sufficiency program of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Rehabilitation IN Cibaliung is a continuation project of the Cibaliung Dam which was completed in 1980. On October 18, 2024, the Ministry of Public Works has started rehabilitation work in Cibaliung in Cikeusik District covering an area of 4,303 hectares (ha) consisting of Cibaliung Kiri covering an area of 1,810 ha with a discharge of 2.73 m3/second and Cibaliung Kanan covering an area of 2,493 ha with a discharge of 3,76 m3/second.

The rehabilitation work in Cibaliung is under the responsibility of the Cidanau Ciujung Cidurian River Basin Center (BBWS), the Directorate General of Water Resources of the Ministry of Public Works with the implementing contractor Hansol - Waskita, Joint Venture.

The cost of work comes from loans worth IDR 233.8 billion with a work period of 730 calendar days and is targeted for completion in October 2026.

The amount of the budget is used for the rejuvenation of the Cibaliung Dam, handling the primary channel along the 24.43 km and the 13.83 km secondary channel on the right CIbaliung DI and the primary channel in Cibaliung left along the 7.31 km.

Furthermore, rehabilitation was also carried out on buildings for tapping as many as 3 pieces, 1 measuring building, 5 plunging buildings, 31 tapping buildings, 44 throwing culverts, and 36 throwing tackles.

Through the rehabilitation program, it is hoped that the water management system in DI Cibaliung can be modernized, thereby increasing the capacity of irrigation channels and maximizing the potential of agricultural land and irrigation water resources.

It is hoped that the rehabilitation program in Cibaliung will have an impact on increasing agricultural productivity in Pandeglang Regency with the Plant Index increasing from 113 percent to 190 percent.
