Commission IX Of The House Of Representatives Compares Prabowo's Free Eating Program To Japan

JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX DPR from the NasDem Faction Irma Chaniago asked the Head of the National Nutrition Agency Dadan Hindayana to closely monitor the distribution of free nutritious food to school children throughout Indonesia so that President Prabowo Subianto's flagship program is not redundant.

Irma also appreciates that the program implemented to high school is fully funded by the government. Given that abroad such as Japan, programs like this are only up to junior high school and are funded from the contributions of the parents of the students who can afford it.

"This is an extraordinary program from Pak Prabowo in order to educate Indonesian children, which we do know that we are not talking about Jakarta but talking about the whole area to be able to eat breakfast is difficult, and this is extraordinary. Of course we really appreciate this program," said Irma during a meeting with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, October 31.

"Secondly, I appreciate it even more because in Japan, free meals are only up to junior high schools, for junior high schools, junior high schools who are students, children are able, the family is excited (regional). Now, we are all financed by the government. Same with BPJS Health, right? The PBI is all financed by this government, we are grateful, sir. Now this program really has to be guarded together," he continued.

According to the South Sumatra electoral district NasDem legislator, BGN can supervise by collaborating with the Regional Government. This is so that the program can be useful and channeled properly to the community.

"Please be really controlled, because we once had experience. For example, at the Ministry of Health first, sir, there was a screen program to anticipate dengue fever mosquitoes in Papua, because the center that sent them to the regions that had to distribute them to the public had no distribution costs., then it was not used and burned down, it was not useful at all," he said.

"Well, this is my input, sir, it must really be controlled, sir, yes. The people of the area are all like wolves, sir, sir," added Irma.

In addition, Irma also asked the Head of BGN to detail the price of free nutritious food in each region. He reminded that do not let the value set for one meal does not meet the nutritional needs because the price increases in each region.

"Second sir, related to our nutritionists, sir, with how much the rupiah value must be stated in the amount of food provided. So if, for example, at a price of Rp. 15,000, the catering must be profitable, maybe not, because for the distribution of all kinds of things, there are human resources who work, etc. Now, the value of food that reaches the community, how many children must be properly guarded. If it is not certain, it will be a problem," said Irma.

"This is something very complicated, sir, if this food. Not to mention there were many incidents of poisoning and then vomiting and then getting diarrhea, etc., it's not an easy thing. But I'm sure that the control is really tight step by step, it's really maintained. I'm sure this can go well," he added.

Irma emphasized that Commission IX of the DPR strongly supports free nutritious food programs. Provided, the supervision and planning are carried out properly.

"I personally really appreciate this because abroad is not entirely funded by the government, Indonesia is financed by the government entirely, this is extraordinary, sir. For that, don't be redundant, so that the target that Prabowo will achieve is right on target," he concluded.
