Sumedang Hanyut Student Body In Nusa Penida Bali Found 200 Meters From The Coastal Lips

BALI - Basarnas Bali finally found the body of a student from Sumedang, West Java, who was swept away in Nusa Penida.

"The victim was found dead in the west of the scene, about 200 meters from the shoreline," said member of the Nusa Penida SAR Alert Unit Rescue Team Gede Suastra in a statement in Denpasar, Thursday, October 31.

He explained that the victim named Emperor Akira Ayman (17) was lost in the current while bathing at Kelingking Beach, Nusa Penida, on Wednesday, October 30 morning.

Initial information was obtained by Basarnas Bali from a friend of the victim named Diki (17) who explained that they were about eight people swimming together on the beach.

"Suddenly a big wave came and rolled them up, another friend managed to save himself, while the victim was lost by the current," said Gede Suastra.

The incident is estimated to have occurred around 10:00 WITA, then Basarnas Bali was deployed to conduct a search using a rigid inflatable boat (RIB).

In a day the team conducts a sweep around the location, where it can be seen in an amateur video that a body is adrift but the point has not been found until finally the search took place again this morning.

Suastra said this morning after continuing the search from 06.15 WITA, at 09.40 WITA finally the victim's body was found without wearing clothes and immediately evacuated.

"I would like to thank all SAR elements involved in the search effort, I also express my condolences to the families of the victims for this incident, hopefully this incident will not happen again," he said.

He reminded all beach visitors to actively pay attention to the existing signs, because the characteristics of each beach in Bali are different, besides that the importance of monitoring from the manager to visitors.

Furthermore, for student victims, the body was taken to Shanti Hospital using an ambulance belonging to the Nusa Medika Clinic, and the victim's family has confirmed that the body found was indeed Ayman.
