Help The US, Qatar Continue Gaza's Armistice Negotiation Until The Last Minute
JAKARTA - Qatar will work closely with US President Joe Biden's administration until a "final minute" before the US Presidential election reaches a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
We do not see any negative results from this election against the mediation process itself. We believe that we are dealing with institutions, and in countries like the United States, the institution invests in finding resolutions to this crisis," said Qatar Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari.
The ceasefire negotiations involving Israeli Hamas and negotiators are not expected to produce significant progress until the winner in the United States (US) presidential election is announced.
Sources explaining the negotiations told CNN the final round of negotiations, which began in Qatar's capital, Doha on Sunday, did not focus on achieving the release of hostages and the ceasefire agreement, but rather on starting the process.
The discussions also include war in Lebanon, as well as Iran and its regional influence.
Another round of talks is expected to take place in a few days, the source said. The US election is scheduled for November 5.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not yet accepted a ceasefire proposal in Gaza and an agreement to release hostages.

"The time is more mature than ever to seek quick plans to repatriate the hostages," Gantz said at a parliamentary meeting of the National Unity Party he chaired.
