How To Wisely Change Habits In The Workplace To Reduce Stress
JAKARTA - Stress in the workplace is common. Workers need to understand these ways to deal with stress so that they can still be productive, one of which is by changing bad habits.
At least this was said by psychologist, Sukmayanti Rafisukmawan. He emphasized the importance of public literacy regarding strategies to reduce stress and bad habits in the work environment. One way is through consistently implementing a healthy lifestyle.
"Healthy lifestyles can be applied by increasing consumption of fruit and vegetables, reducing sugar intake in coffee gradually, and for those who have difficulty quitting smoking, switching to alternative tobacco products can be a solution," said Sukmayanti, in a statement as quoted by Antara.
According to him, sudden quitting smoking can trigger relaxation symptoms, such as anxiety and focus difficulties, which can actually worsen stress conditions.
"Stopping smoking is not easy. If it is done suddenly, it can cause more psychological effects," added Sukmayanti.

The process of reducing smoking habits can be done gradually. For example, by reducing cigarettes in a day to psychological counseling, it is also recommended to help smokers reduce their dependence.
On the other hand, Public Health Expert and Job Safety Expert, dr. Felosofa Fitrya, highlighted that most of the productive time adults spend in the workplace. Therefore, companies need to play an active role in maintaining the mental health of employees so that they are able to face work pressures.
"Companies can provide counseling services such as the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to assist employees in managing stress and personal problems," he said.
Felosofa reminded employees to be aware of unhealthy habits that arise due to work pressure, such as irregular eating patterns, lack of exercise, to smoking habits.
With this awareness, employees can focus more on improving their health and making better choices to reduce physical and mental risks.
