Indonesia Gets 221,000 Hajj Quota In 2025, Minister Of Religion: The Largest In History
Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar said Indonesia would get a hajj quota of 221,000 by 2025.
According to Nasaruddin, this number is the largest quota that Indonesia has received in the history of the pilgrimage.
"This year, Indonesia has obtained the largest hajj quota in history. The basic quota is 221,000, consisting of 203,320 regular Hajj pilgrims and 17,680 special Hajj pilgrims," said Nasaruddin during a meeting with Commission VIII DPR, Monday, October 28.
In addition, continued Nasaruddin, the Government of Saudi Arabia also provided an additional quota of 20,000 consisting of 10,000 regular Hajj pilgrims and 10,000 special Hajj pilgrims.
"So the total quota is 213,320 regular Hajj pilgrims and 27,680 special Hajj pilgrims," he explained.
The Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque said that the absorption of the regular Hajj quota in 2024 was the largest with a percentage of 99.98 percent compared to previous years. Namely in 2015 it was only 99.52 percent, in 2016 it was 99.51 percent, and 2017 it was 99.54 percent, 2018 it was 99.68 percent.
"This percentage of 99.98 percent means as many as 213,275 pilgrims arrived in Saudi Arabia and an unabsorbed quota of 45 quotas. The absorption of special Hajj quotas in 2024 reached 27,324 pilgrims with a percentage of 98.71 percent," he said.

Nasaruddin revealed, as many as 213,275 regular Hajj pilgrims from Indonesia arrived in Saudi Arabia via 553 groups. The first 229 groups flew to Amir Muhammad Bin Abdul Aziz Airport in Medina, and 324 batches of two departed for Bandar International King Abdul Aziz in Jeddah.
This year, he continued, the Ministry of Religion carries the tagline Haji Friendly for the elderly. "Because the number of elderly pilgrims is very large and it is estimated that later the elderly congregation will be more physical, it is estimated that it will rise because the waiting list is getting longer," he said.
Nasaruddin detailed, out of a total of 213,275 regular pilgrims arriving in Saudi Arabia, 45,524 pilgrims aged 65 years and over or around 21.35 percent.
"This year is the second year that BPIH Saudi Arabia facilitated the wuskuf safari for elderly and disabled pilgrims as many as 293 pilgrims participated in the wuhkuf safari. So this is a development in Saudi Arabia," concluded Nasaruddin Umar.
