Instagram Only Shows Best Video Quality To Popular Content
JAKARTA Instagram is being criticized for the video quality sharing system revealed by Instagram Head Adam Mosseri. The reason is, the best video quality is only given to popular content.
Not long ago, Mosseri made Stories about the way they displayed quality videos. Mosseri also explains why some videos have excellent quality, while other videos look to have low quality.
The Instagram official said that the platform uses low quality by default. However, when the video uploaded by the creator gets more views, the video will be rewritten with higher quality.
"We want to show the best quality video we can get. But if something is not watched for a long time, because most of the views happened at the start, we will switch to videos with lower quality. Then if the video is often watched again, we will re-submit the video," Mosseri explained.
This statement is widely discussed on Instagram. Not a few think that this system is only in favor of big creators. Mosseri admits that this system does not benefit small creators, but according to her video quality is not very important.

"In practice it (video quality) doesn't seem to be very important, as quality change isn't too big and whether people interact with videos depends more on video content than on quality. Quality seems much more important to the original creators," Mosseri explained through his Threads account.
In fact, Meta once discussed the savings of computing resources in a video. The company explains that they use fewer computing resources in videos that have a small number of viewers.
At first, videos uploaded on Meta's social media will get the most basic periods. After that, a stronger mode will be used if the number of video viewers increases. This means that big creators will always have good videos.
