Efforts To Arrest Netanyahu, Head Of ICC Prosecutor 'Attacked' Dirty Campaign

JAKARTA - Chief Public Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Karim Khan who sought an arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas leader on charges of war crimes is being hit by a smear campaign.

Citing CBN News, Friday, October 25, Khan was accused of inappropriate behavior towards his female counterpart at the headquarters of the ICC, The Hague, the Netherlands. He firmly denied the allegations.

The ICC official assessed that the allegations against Khan may have been made part of a slander campaign from Israeli intelligence.

The woman had been questioned by the ICC but after that she chose not to file an official complaint. After five days of the investigation, in the end this problem did not go up to the investigation stage.

When questioned by AP, the woman chose to refuse to comment.

Although before the ICC supervisor, the woman was unable to prove her accusations, Khan was still asked to minimize contact with the woman and maintain ICC integrity.

Previously, Karim Khan filed arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas leader on charges of war crimes in May 2024.

Shortly after that statement, Karim Khan emphasized that justice must be upheld.

Speaking to BBC radio program "Political Thinking with Nick Robinson", Karim Khan said it was important to show that the ICC would apply the same standards to all countries linked to alleged war crimes.

He also welcomed the British Government's decision that ultimately did not oppose the arrest warrants of Netanyahu, Gallant and Hamas leaders.

"There are differences in tone and, in my opinion, differences in substance related to international law by the new government. And I think it was welcomed," he told Robinson, August 24, 2024, quoted by Arab News.
